HOUSTON (AP) – A Houston man who authorities say had repeatedly assaulted his mother remained in jail Monday after prosecutors allege he decapitated her and inflicted several nonfatal stab wounds in his father at his house, where he was barred by being.
Kyriakos Savvas Georghiou’s mum had a protective order in place and he was not assumed to be in the parents’ home, prosecutors said. He was accused of hitting at the girl from the face at April.
His attorney, Jeffrey Wilner, stated the buddy of Georghiou have been getting him mental health treatment in a facility in Houston and submitted his bail in the assault case. Georghiou was in jail since June for the alleged assault.
“The mom adored him. He was loved by his father. … I’m just in shock,” Wilner said Monday, adding that he “would have called the police and informed his father to not bond him out” if he had some concept that Georghiou are a danger to his family.
27, Georghioumoved on Friday into his parents ‘home and began stabbing at Jane Georghiou, stated Carvana Cloud, a prosecutor with the district attorney’s office in Harris County, Texas.
He was stabbed several times in the chest and face when Costas Georghiou tried to guard his spouse, Cloud said.
Kyriakos Georghiou abandoned his parents’ house and his father went to find assist. While the father was away, but Georghiou came back with a second knife, the prosecutor said.
“He proceeds to stab his mother to the point where he destroys her and her mind is severed from her body,” Cloud said.
Georghiou’s father was hospitalized in critical condition after the attack. His condition has been upgraded to fair, hospital officials said.
Georghiou aggravated assault on a family member and is being held on charges of murder. He has a court appearance scheduled for Thursday.
At the right time of the stabbing attack, Georghiou’s bond was revoked by a judge when he missed a court hearing last week at the assault case where he faced a charge of injury to an older individual for allegedly hitting his mum inside his automobile at April and knocking out one of her front teeth.
It was the second time that Georghiou was arrested for an assault on his mom. He was sentenced to 3 years in state prison after pleading guilty to a charge of harm for his mother, leaving her with a swollen eye and chipped teeth. He had prior arrests for drug possession and aggravated robbery.
Wilner stated Georghiou “adored his mom” and that his parents had fought for years to get him help for his mental health difficulties.
“They tried all they could for him,” the attorney said.
Georghiou’s parents bailed him out of jail on Sept. 6.
“I thought everything was OK when he bonded out,” Wilner said.
Cloud said investigators are still discovering a rationale for the attack.
Even though his bail was submitted by Georghiou’s parents, Jane Georghiou needed a protective order in place that barred him.
“Obviously we can not be with each victim throughout the night or day or when they’re having connections with family members or nearest and dearest,” Cloud said. “We don’t have a crystal ball.”
Georghiou’s behaviour was a “consistent routine for him and also the violence escalated,” the prosecutor said.
